Exceptional home technologies was asked to install a media room in an unfinished basement. EHT worked with the homeowner and general contractor to install a fantastic media room with surround sound within their budget. EHT ran all the necessary cables from the equipment rack locations to all the component locations before the drywall was installed. This included running speaker cables, HDMI video cables, control system cables, and cables to a basement bar TV.
In-wall Subwoofer
Subwoofers can be large and obtrusive. Therefore, EHT installed an in-wall subwoofer for this basement theater. The key is to install a subwoofer enclosure before the drywall is installed. This enclosure is specifically designed to work with the subwoofer driver to provide the best performance.
Media Room
The media room consists of a 70 inch TV on an articulating mount. The 5.1 sound system consists of 3 in-wall speakers for the front left, center,a front right speakers. In-ceiling speakers were used for the surround channels. The client provided their own artwork and theater chairs. A custom remote control system programmed by EHT was installed to make the system operation a breeze!
Equipment Rack
As with most EHT designs, the equipment rack is hidden. The rack is located in a closet in an adjacent room. An audio/video receiver, power/surge protector and subwoofer amplifier was provide by ETH. The client already owned a blu-ray disc player and turntable so that was added.
Interesting Fact
Jim Kluka, President of EHT received his Masters Degree in Aeronautics and Astronautics from MIT, just like Charles Duke, astronaut and 10th person to walk on the moon.
