Planning & Design
For this project, the builder did not have any architectural plans available for EHT to build their pre-wire design. Therefore, EHT used their engineering skills and spent half a day taking measurements of this 10,000 sq. ft. home to create their own plans. After that, EHT was able to design and plan out all the locations for speakers, TVs, touchscreen controls, data outlets, etc. required for the pre-wire.
Prewire
EHT installed this pre-wire solution that provided the following capabilities:
- Provide the cable infrastructure to support whole-house audio/video distribution.
- Provide the cable infrastructure to support a whole-house computer network with Wi-Fi.
- Provide the cable infrastructure to support a whole-music system.
- Provide the cable infrastructure to support a home automation system
- Provide the cable infrastructure to support a video surveillance and recording system.
Note: After after prewire and complete of interior painting, EHT then performed the cable trim-out which includes terminating cables, testing cables, installing wall plates, and installing audio/video distribution devices.

Conduit Installation
Conduit is the only the way to “future-proof” a home for audio/video cables. HDMI cables are always evolving to keep up with the required data rates of ultra-high (4K) video and displays. So when EHT installs conduit, you know you will be always ready to upgrade your system.
EHT installs flexible conduit (orange tubing) whenever possible from TV locations to the location of the source components. The example shown here is conduit that runs from the AV closet on the 2nd level to the basement media room.
A/V Closet
This audio/video closets consist of two in-wall distribution wiring panels. The top panel is for the 1st and 2nd levels. The bottom panel is for the basement and patio areas.
The majority of the cables are “home run” to this location. The cables used in the installation are networking, coax, speakers, control, and HDMI cables. All cables are labeled and the connection ports identified so connecting all the equipment is very straightforward.
Interesting Fact
Jim Kluka, President of EHT received his Masters Degree in Aeronautics and Astronautics from MIT, just like Charles Duke, astronaut and 10th person to walk on the moon.
